Eugene “Onio” Punzal, a Kauai native, is a cultural weaving practitioner for the Kauai Museum. We carry his can cozies woven from 100 locally sourced lau hala, the leaf of the pandanus tree! For countless generations peoples of the Pacific Ocean (and beyond) have relied upon the leaves of the hala tree as a source of durable fibers for weaving a variety of useful and ornamental products! Eugene is a master weaver and his work must be seen to be appreciated!
