This fantastic Polynesian Style Ipu was grown and decorated by local artist Lonnie Sykos. This nicely decorated ipu is rich with symbolism. It's decorations feature fish and Polynesian tribal patterns in faint releif - like images from the past obscured by time.
This gourd features some beautiful stitching of a crack - representing the care that was given, in ancient times, to a cherised loved one or special item. Something loved is something worth repairing.
